The Breakers hockey season is off and running.  We took the ice for our first game of the 2009-2010 season on September 12th.  This is an earlier start than in previous seasons.  Will the Breakers be ready??

The first game begins against the Ms Conduct.  The first period comes to an end.  The scoreboard shows 0-0.  Ms Conduct will be the first to put a puck in the net.  But the Breakers would rally back and score.  Nancy would tie the game with three minutes left in the second period.  Diane would have the game winning goal with one minute left.  But would that be enough?  The Breakers say no and move ahead with Linda a new comer to the team scoring with only 16 seconds left in the second period.  The third period would start and was coming to an end with just over two minutes left in the game Diane would strike again.  The game ends with the Breakers on top, a 4 to 1 win is a good way to start.

We take a break to wait for game two.  This is the first time in a long time we would play games so close to each other.  After a few hours of resting the game would begin.  This time we will take on team FWHL - Colleen will get the first goal midway through the first period.  Diane will make our second goal with five minutes left in the first period, assisted by Janka.  The second period begins and team FWHL will score but can they hold on and bring the score even.  But Colleen strikes again and now the Breakers have three.  The second period is almost over, Colleen was looking for a hat??? No she was looking for a hat trick.  With only 28 seconds left she found her hat trick, with an assist from Cindy!!!  The third period begins and Cindy has the burn.  She has an assist but she wants more so off she goes and yes she scores!!  Team FWHL is still pushing hard, one more goal is on the board.  The game will end with a 5 to 2 win.  Now off to the hotel to get ready for tomorrow.

We all slept in or maybe not?  We now play the Hockey Chicks, they look like they multiplied.  So may players no place to sit.  the first goal is scored by our gal Trish.  The Chicks will score their first goal this game and new the score is all even, who will win??  The third period begins and halfway to the end.  But Chance on the chicks will skate end to end.  She shoots she scores and the Chicks will win.  A great game was played by everyone on both teams.

Now the test begins.  We are in second place after three games, is that where the weekend will end? 

A two hour rest and now we begin.  The Chicks will be first to light up the board.  The second period just begins, Colleen will score assisted by Cindy.  Is she looking for her hat again?  With only 2 seconds left in the second period at the face off, Diane will shoot and the puck goes in.  The Chicks battle hard but the clock is ticking.  I am thinking the chicks may be feeling like a chicken? 

The Breakers will come home in first place this time.  This is Iron Women Hockey, 4 games in less than 24 hours, everyone was glad that the rink has showers.

But the challenge begins in just four short weeks this time.  We take the ice for tournament #2.
